NOTES
Note on Age Groups:
Junior Development Athletes are aged between 9 and 15 on December
31st of the current year, i.e. an athlete's age is determined by
their birth year.
Athletes aged 9-13 take part in "Elementary" meets; those 14 and 15 years old take part in
"High School" meets and are also designated as "Midgets".
Athletes aged 16, 17 are designated as "Juvenile"
and also take part in "High School" meets. Many meets cater
to multiple age groups.
Note on BC Summer Games:
Every two years, BC athletes in the midget age-group compete in
track and field at the BC Summer Games. The province is
divided into geographic Zones for the competition. Each Zone
holds trials prior to the Games to select a team.
For more information, please see the Summer
Games information on the BC Athletics Schools web page.
